Recent Food Recalls for the Week Beginning September 7th
This past week’s recalls have been a combination of high health risk class I recalls and allergy labeling issues. With a couple of unusual recalls this week – water and a dietary supplement, we are reminded that anything you ingest can be subject to recall.
Class I Recall
Frozen corn was recalled by Bonduelle USA Inc because of potentially being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall affects 9355 cases of frozen corn packaged in poly bags and sold under the brand names: WYLWOOD Super Sweet Whole Kernel Corn, BOUNTIFUL HARVEST Whole Kernal Cut Corn, MARKET BASKET Cut Corn, and WEST CREEK FROZEN VEGETABLES Cut Corn. Johnsonville Grillers Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Flavor pork sausage patty products were recalled by Kenosha Beef International LTD because of the possibility of contamination by extraneous materials. 89,235 pounds of the affected product were packaged in 24 ounce cartons and 13.5 pound cases of the product which retailed in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin. Limited Edition brand Cucumbers were recalled by Andrew and Williamson Fresh Produce (A&W) due to possible Salmonella contamination. These cucumbers were sold in retail, wholesale, broker and food service companies in many states and may be difficult to spot because of the lack of packaging. Allergy Labeling Recall
Country Fare One Gallon Spring Water was recalled by H-E-B due to the possible presence of milk in the product. Items were sold in the Houston, Central Texas and Gulf Coast areas. Rose Brand Cranberry Mix was recalled by Best Cash & Carry due to possibly containing sulfites. The 7 ounce plastic bad is un-coded and sold only in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. To get additional information go to: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm461250.htm
Western Beef Sun Dried Tomatoes were recalled by Food Nation due to undeclared sulfites. These products were sold only in Western Beef retail stores in New York and were packaged in 16 or 32 ounce uncoded, plastic containers. Dietary Supplement Recall
Ultimate Antioxidant Tablets dietary supplement were recalled by VRVK Nutraceuticals, LLC DBA Dr. Venessa’s Formulas for undeclared allergens. Three ingredients containing milk and one ingredient possibly containing crustacean shellfish were not listed on package labeling.
