Recent Food Recalls For the Week Beginning July 20th

chicken recallOnly the biggest and most dangerous of food allergies make the news. However, every week there are foods being recalled for a variety of reasons. While some affect only those with food allergies, others can affect anyone.

Below are the U.S. food recalls for the period of July 15th through 19th.

Allergy Labeling Recalls

Veggie Evolution Kale Crisps Zen Nori – undeclared soy

Cub Foods and Rainbow foods Danish Rolls 4CT – undeclared milk

Hy-Vee American Macaroni Salad – undeclared milk and wheat


In addition any recalls that can affect the general public are classified by the USDA into three different categories. Below are those classifications and the associated recalls for this period.


USDA Recall Classifications
Class I This is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
Class II This is a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.
Class III This is a situation where the use of the product will not cause adverse health consequences.


Class I Recalls

Multiple Brands of frozen, raw, stuffed and breaded chicken – possible salmonella enteritidis contamination

Bell & Evans Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets – staphylococcal enterotoxin contamination

Class III Recalls

The Sausage Factory sausage products – misbranding
