November 11, 2014

Home to historic sports teams, massive lakes and tough winters in the Upper Peninsula is the state of Michigan. It’s known as a hard working, blue collar group of people and in some of the smaller towns in the state, you can see that bear out in their efforts to curb crime and make their communities safe places to not only visit, but live. The many lakes of Michigan, not limited to just the Great Lakes, are a big draw for both people moving to the state and people visiting. There are many natural amenities for people to enjoy, such as the aforementioned lakes, many beautiful rivers and the many lush natural forests across the state. Plus you can’t forget their historic college football programs and professional sports teams. Typically regions with a lot of traffic, be it from increased population to just people making their way through the area on their way to Canada, you’ll see increased crime. Each region of the state deals with crime in a different manner, but some handled the situation in spectacular fashion.

Using data from 2007-2012 FBI Crime Reporting Statistics, we’ve uncovered twenty-five cities in Michigan which have significantly decreased crime successfully.
